As a Hypnotherapist, I often get requests from people asking me if I can “hypnotize them†so they may stop an undesirable habit. My response to such request is usually something like this:†How badly do you want to change? And why do you want to change now?†The answers to these two questions are usually a good indicator of the success rate the person will have by using hypnosis.
It is only when we recognize the importance of letting go of destructive thoughts or patterns in our lives that we can let go readily. In other words, to create positive change, there must be a strong desire to do so. People who have left a life of addiction will attest to this. People, who have lost unhealthy weight and kept healthy, will attest to this. What ever it is you wish to change in your life must start with a strong and clear desire to change. And then, it happens.
If you feel ready to let go of a negative habit, what follows is a simple, yet, proven method to successfully create a new positive habit in your life.
Step #1
Write down a clear description of what habit you want to change
1b- Write down how this habit is hindering your life.
1c- Write down how the new positive habit will improve your life.
1c- Write down a date you’ll start the process of change.
Step#2
Write down different possible ways to change that habit
2b-Commit to a date to start working on your options
Step #3
Create a positive mantra or statement that will support your new habit.
3b- write this mantra or statement on sticky notes and post them everywhere in your home and office to help you re-enforce your new habit.
Step #4
Before going to sleep, every night, visualize yourself already enjoying the rewards of your new habit.
Step #5
Give yourself between 21 and 30 days of new habit re enforcement. It takes anywhere between 21 and 30 days to create new neurological pathways in your brain.
I help people end negative and self destructive habits and create new positive ones. The method I’ve described above is one of the many different methods available to help any one who is ready to create change.
